Sergio Canales, Real Madrid’s first signing for the 2010-11 campaign spoke to Marca about his hopes and expectations in the coming season.

I've dreamt of playing for this club

Expectations:

I want to enjoy myself and learn as much as I can. Competition is always good and it will help me learn. This team has a quality squad. Competition doesn’t scare me. This is a top level squad and I will fight to win titles with Real Madrid.

Signing for Real Madrid:

It was beautiful to sign for Real Madrid because it means I will play with footballers that make a difference and who people like to watch. I feel better when the ball is at my feet and I believe I’m a spontaneous player.

I am proud to be at the Santiago Bernabeu. I have always been impressed by this stadium. I can’t wait to step onto the pitch and do my best. Real Madrid have many top quality players. I am anxious to take part in the team’s preseason.

Guti and Raul:

Few players achieve what Guti and Raul have. They’ve meant everything for this club and the fans. I still have a long way to go. There is still a lot they can do. I admire them. I dream about being like them some day.
