During Friday’s pre-game press conference, Manuel Pellegrini assured that his team will treat the Clasico as any other match and go for the jugular as soon as possible.

"We want to please our fans that have supported us through thick and thin"
Clasico:
I hope the match flows freely. We are two different teams who play different styles of football, but we are equally effective. Barcelona are also in great form as our point totals reflect. Both teams have to play well in order to win.
Messi:
We aren’t going to base our game on whatever Messi does, but rather on what we can do against Barcelona. This is a team sport, and it’s from within the team that the individual talent must shine through in order to make a difference. It’s technique that makes a difference, not tactics.
Result:
All that matters is that Real Madrid proves why it is the top team in the league. We are confident that we will win. I consider a draw a negative outcome for my team. We have never speculated on the outcome, especially when playing at home, where we haven’t lost all season. We have always sought the opponent’s box from the very start and this time round will be no different.

Raul Albiol discussed how he and the team are gearing up for Saturday’s showdown against Barcelona in an extensive interview with Real Madrid Television.

"Our fans can give us the edge, but we need to give them a reason to cheer us on"
How do you feel with only one day until the Clasico kicks off?
I can’t wait. Every players wants the match to start. The hours leading up to the match go by so slowly.
This will be your first Clasico at the Bernabeu. Where did you used to watch it?
I would watch it with my family. It’s a match that always brings the country to a stop, and this year even more so because the teams are level on points and there is so much at stake. Neither team wants to lose. We want to play well and win.
Do you think the Bernabeu will be the 12th man?
Yes. Their support is essential. We need to give them something to cheer about. We need to play with intensity so that they see that we are focused. Our fans can give us the edge, but we need to give them a reason to cheer us on.
What are your thoughts on the match? Is winning key to winning La Liga?
All we are thinking about is the 90 minutes, the three points and putting some distance between us and Barcelona. The Clasico isn’t definitive because there are six more matches after it.
Are you favorites because you play at home?
The favorite shows it on the pitch. Everyone said we would concede a lot of goals in the first leg, but it was a very level match. It will be similar this time. We play at home and know we need to win the three points no matter who our opponent is. Barcelona, however, are a strong rival. We need to prove that we can win.
How do you slow Messi down?
Stopping him when one-on-one is very hard. You need to have a very distinctive method of slowing him down. Every player needs to help close open spaces. He is deadly when he has room to work with because he is so fast with the ball at his feet. It doesn’t matter if he receives the ball 30 meters away from the goal; he still has the energy to shoot perfectly.

In what would be heart-breaking news for a few but comforting for others Guti has admitted that moving to the Premier League is an attractive option after revealing there is no chance of him staying at Real Madrid. The 33-year-old believes that he has two more years left at a high level and wants to experience a new challenge before hanging up his boots. In an interview to Onda Madrid, the midfielder has confessed that this would be his last Clásico. He said:
Right now there is no possibility that I will stay at Madrid. This will be my last clasico. I have a year left on my contract but I think we can reach an understanding. I am sure that they will understand that my best option is to go.
Guti has always had a problem with something or the other every season. He has a contract for life with Real something that would renew itself it the player makes a particular number of appearances. But his place in the side this time around has been questioned and the blond bombshell has made fewer appearances than he would have liked.
With Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and several other Premier League clubs on his trail, the veteran midfielder hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a move elsewhere. He said that he doesn’t want to make a big scene out of his plans to move on and that he wants to leave Real with dignity. And with dignity he will leave. He has had his ups and downs but has survived through several the various crops of players right from the time he made it into the first team. Like all the players generally say when asked about Guti, the man is special indeed. He always has something out of the ordinary. He can be both the best midfielder in the World and the worst midfielder in the World as well and that is Guti for you. He continued:
The most important thing is to leave a club like Real Madrid with dignity. I think that I have two more years left in me and my idea is either England, Italy or the Middle East. Anywhere outside of Spain will be good, but it does depend on the offers.
Finally, when asked about whether this decision was because of the lack of playing time, he said that he understands that going down the pecking order is part and parcel of a footballer’s career and that it can happen to anyone and went on to recommend that either David Silva or Cesc Fábregas would be the ideal players to replace him though given a choice he’d prefer to see Andres Iniesta. Some consolation that would be. I am not sure about whether we would indeed go out and get those players but as far as I am concerned Guti is irreplaceable. There are a few things which money can’t buy and Guti is one of them. It does not mean that I think Guti is better than those three. I know that as well. But Guti can be found only in Guti and in no one else.
Xabi Alonso who will experience his first Clásico at the Bernabéu on Saturday gave an interview for a second consecutive day to El Larguero. Out of all the pointless things he said, only this was something that can be considered relevant:
If we let Barça get comfortable we will have a tough time winning. We need to continue playing like we have been on both ends of the pitch. Getting past their first line of pressure to create plays from there is very important to our success.
It was Higuaín‘s turn to talk about the game next and this time it was to AS. Nothing much in it. The same stuff again and again.
Van der Vaart though did a bit of previewing himself pointing out that:
I think Barcelona’s best asset is their midfield with Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets. That is where their plays a created and that is where we have to pay the most attention to.
He then revealed a little bit about the team’s prep for the game, saying:
It has clearly been a different kind of week. Everyone is talking about this match. We have tactical workouts and we have talked about the opponent a lot in the dressing room. These are three golden points at stake, but we know there is much more on the line, especially for the fans.
I know but I can’t help it. Too many quotes in this post as well. The players seem to be doing the previewing more than I myself can. But hell, its the Clásico. Weird things will happen. I promise you a proper pre-preview for tomorrow.
Until then,
Para Siempre Blanco!
Hala Madrid!!
