Guti reveals post Real Madrid wishes

Guti has paved the way for a possible exit from Real Madrid after declaring he would love to experience playing abroad. The midfielder has endured a troubled relationship with some Real coaches he has played under down the years and current boss Manuel Pellegrini appears to be no exception.

Prior to the clash with Mallorca last week, where Guti came on for the final seven minutes, the 33-year-old hadn’t played for the first-team since the embarrassing 4-0 Copa del Rey defeat to minnows Alcoron in October. Following the defeat Guti and Pellegrini were said to have had fallen out but the playmaker, who is in his 14th season at the Bernabeu having risen through club’s youth ranks, angrily stated to journalists last week that his absence was down to injury.

He said:

I would like to end my contract at Real Madrid but it is also true that I would love to be able to play for another team. To be able to enjoy another culture, to be able to enjoy another life, other team-mates, another league.

Guti’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season with Premier League duo Tottenham and Bolton said to be monitoring the situation, but the veteran feels he would be better suited to Serie A with Inter Milan top of his wishlist.

I would go there with open arms. It is a great club. I have great friends there, Samuel Eto’o and Wesley Sneijder. I think it’s a team that can aspire to everything. The truth is that it is one of my best options, if it could be real.

It is true that I’ve had a very nice time at Real Madrid, that Madrid is a city where I wanted to live all my life, and now I want to leave Madrid. It’s like a contradiction, but I want to be able to get out of Madrid, to be able to be in another country, in another city and to be able to enjoy other things.

I am Shocked.

Arbeloa press conference

Alvaro Arbeloa addressed the media after training. The defender believes the team is in good form despite the defeat in Bilbao.

On Bilbao:

There were unfavourable circumstances for us on Saturday. We had chances to score, but we dropped three points we should have taken.

We failed to win in the final minutes of the match, but I believe we are in good form nonetheless. There are several games thorughout a season in which you actually deserve to win, but don’t. It doesn’t worry us. We try our best away from home. We simply have to aim better.

I think it would be more worrying not to have any chances to score at all, but we had four or five clear ones at San Mames. This helps us think we will be luckier next time.

On title hopes:

We can salvage our distance with Barcelona. There are 60 more points at stake this season and we cannot afford to fail any more becuase it is very hard for Barcelona to drop points. We play well at home and we will host games against the strongest teams in the return leg. We hope to take advantage of facing them at home.

I just want us to continue to improve and not drop any more points. I don’t care about Barcelona. Let them do what they must. I think the five-point cushion they have over us is just an anecdote. We have to stop making mistakes and win several consecutive games. Both teams have different styles. They scored four goals this weekend, but we’ve done the same in some of our past matches. I don’t think we are so different.
