Director General, Jorge Valdano discussed a variety of matters concerning the club shortly after signing a contract with MMT Seguros, who will be the primary sponsor of the basketball section.

New signings:

The door is closed for now other than for exceptional cases such as that of Granero, who I hope can join the squad as soon as possible.

Xabi Alonso:

The door will remained closed until some players leave. I do not think Xabi’s unavailibility to play is a method of putting on the pressure.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar:

There is no solid offer right now. We had a great opportunity, but the player didn’t accept it because he has other prospects. We hope to find another European club that is interested. He will assume a secondary role on the team because he isn’t as prepared as his teammates and he knows what the club’s intentions are.

Transfers:

We are working nonstop on unloading players. It is a difficult market and we will do everything possible until the very last minute to find an exit for those players who that coach isn’t counting on.

Preseason:

The team worked very hard. The players love the assimilation process and the coach’s ideas.
