Huntelaar press conference

Huntelaar has only been here for six months, but he has great admiration for “the greatest club in the world.” The player has perfectly adapted to the Spanish league and hopes the team leaves a good impression in the last game of the season at the Bernabeu.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (18)

What do you know of Florentino Perez?
He is a former Real Madrid President and a good candidate for the coming election, but we still don’t know if he’s going to win.

Would you like to stay at Real Madrid to prove you are a good player?
Of course. I came here to play and win titles.

Your arrival coincided with the team’s great run in the second leg. What’s your opinion on these past six months on both a personal and collective level?
We’ve only lost three games, but the match against Barcelona was crucial. The good streak we were having came to an end with that game. We must continue to win and prove our worth in the next two games.

Did it bother you to be benched in the second half of the match against Villarreal?
We played badly in the first half and I was replaced. I would have liked to do more, but the coach is the one who decides on the pitch.

On Sunday you’ll play your last league game at the Bernabeu. Will the team strive to send out a good image?
Of course. You can’t  lose three consecutive games. We must try to win both for our fans and for that which we stand for.

How does it feel to see your name on the list of players that may leave the team next season?
I’ve only been here for six months. I came to play and win more games with Real Madrid. I never regretted signing for the best club in the world. It was a chance I grabbed with both hands and I want to show  people what I’m capable of doing.
