Recreativo Huelva vs Real Madrid | Spanish Primera Liga | Round 31 | Preview

Real Madrid need three more points to stay in the fight for the title, while Recreativo need them to stay alive and avoid relegation. Both sides clash at the Nuevo Colombino at 22:00 CET and the Whites will try hard to earn their 16th victory in 17 games. Ramos and Marcelo have returned to the squad list, while Guti is suspended for the match.

preview2

Spanish football first began in Huelva 120 years ago, making this clash between the oldest team in the championship and Real Madrid an historic one.

Despite their long history, both teams have only clashed nine times and Recreativo have only won once (3-0 in Madrid during the 2006/07 campaign.) The Whites have scored 19 goals against Huelva and have conceded only 10.

This  is the thid consecutive season in which a match at the Nuevo Colombino is of special importance for the Madridistas. In the past two campaigns, they had to defend their leadership there, and now they need a victory to stay in the fight for the title. Recre are in dire straits and can’t afford any mistakes if they are to stay in the First Division. Real Madrid have won there 3-2 in the last two seasons.

Sergio Ramos has returned to the squad list after last week’s suspension and Marcelo has recovered from his muscle injury. Guti is out due to suspension. The starting lineup will probably be as follows: Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze, Lass, Gago, Marcelo, Robben, Raul and Higuain. On the other hand, Recreativo have recovered important men such as Iago, Bouzon, Javi Guerrero, Jesus Vázquez, Aitor and Colunga for tonight’s decisive clash.

Ramos returns and Sneijder good to go

All is set for Saturday’s match against Receativo and Juande Ramos is counting on 18 players to take care of business in Huelva. Sergio Ramos is one of them after sitting out last week’s match against Valladolid. Wesley Sneijder has also been given the green light having recovered from a niggled soleus muscle. Seven players won’t make the trip however, and they include Guti, who must serve a one-match suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card, Parejo, Codina, Drenthe, Faubert, Salgado and Javi García.
