Para siempre blanco!

Javi Garcia press conference

Javi Garcia is a true Madridista that wants to succeed at the Club. The player works hard every day to show Juande he can be useful to the team.

The team is doing well since Juande took over. What’s changed?
The team has a different attitude, especially in defence. It is very difficult to score against us now. I think that’s been the greatest change. We work collectively.

Does criticism to the team’s style bother the squad?
We know people demand that we play well besides winning every game, but the latter is more important. We have to improve, but these good results are making the team more confident. I think our style will improve gradually, but we have to keep on winning.

You defeated Sporting 7-1 at the start of the campaign. It seems Sunday’s game may be easy…
Every game is different. The fact that we scored seven goals against them then doesn’t mean we will do the same this weekend. Their crowd is very loud and Sporting are going to make things tough for us. We’ll have to do our best to take three very important points.

Has you personal ambition been satisfied?
Not at all. I want to play. I am very ambitious and I want to play as much as possible. I have to try my best and show the coach I can be useful, but the team is what really matters to me. I hope my daily effort finds reward sooner or later. I have faith in my chances.

Sporting coach Manolo Preciado recently said the only unbeatable side right now is Barcelona.
I don’t think unbeatable teams exist. It is very hard to win against Barcelona, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. We haven’t lost a game in two months, which proves we are having a good run. Any team can have a bad day and lose. Every team can be defeated.

Faubert and Lass arrived to reinforce the midfield. How do youth teamers feel about these signings?
Academy players have had their chance to shine and many have done well. These new signings play against their interests. It isn’t easy to play for Real Madrid because the Club is very demanding. Youth teamers have to fight harder and must never give up.

Guti rejoined the team this week. How does he feel?
He’s fine. He hasn’t felt any pain. His return is very important to us.

How excited is the team about the clash with Liverpool?
We are focusing on the two league games that precede it. It will be a very important match, but we have to concentrate on one game at a time in order to do well and win.
